Sermon in Jerusalem: The Future of Israel, Egypt & the U.S. in the Light of Bible Prophecy

(Washington, D.C., July 10, 2012) — Greetings from Jerusalem. I’m here with my family and some friends from The Joshua Fund doing humanitarian relief work. Lord willing, I’ll fill you in on all that soon. Last week, we also had the opportunity to travel to Rome where I preached on Romans 9, 10 and 11 and God’s love and plan for Israel and the Jewish people. I hope to post my notes on that message soon. In the meantime, we’d be grateful for your prayers!

One quick update: On Sunday evening, July 8th, I had the honor of preaching at King of Kings Assembly, a wonderful church in Jerusalem. I spoke on the future of Israel, Egypt, and the U.S. in the light of Bible prophecy. The specific title of the message was, “Isaiah 31: Do Not Trust In Egypt.”

Given the rise of a Radical Muslim regime in Egypt, there is a growing threat to Israel from the south. Also, I believe there are some troubling parallels between Israel’s unhealthy trust in and dependance on Egypt rather than the Lord to provide peace and security in ancient history and Israel’s unhealthy trust in and dependance on the United States instead of the Lord during our current time. The U.S. is, of course, Israel’s most powerful and most important ally today. But what if the U.S. abandons Israel in the near future? What if the U.S. turns against Israel? What if the U.S. implodes and is unable or unwilling to stand with Israel in the not-too-distant future? What would happen? Would that be God’s will, or would God move to prevent such a rift occurring?

These are some of the questions I tried to address in the message. You can find the notes of the message on my blog. I hope you’ll take some time to read through them and share them/discuss them with others.

May the Lord Jesus bless you and inspire you to pray for the peace of Jerusalem at this critical time. Please also be praying for the work of The Joshua Fund as we seek to care for the poor and needy in Israel — Jews and Arabs — and prepare for the war that could be coming soon between Israel and Iran.
