Using the Name of The Lord (1 of 4)
Do you notice when people use the Lord’s name in vain?
Whether it is in a profane way or by saying “OMG…” it seems to transformed from a social taboo to a common everyday occurrence.
Even atheists and others who say they don’t believe in God or Jesus do so! And why is it screenwriters have to inject the Name of Jesus in every film and television program?
Obviously, if they used names from a certain other religion… they might be blown up or worse.
Regardless, shouldn’t these people at the very least realize that this is not something to be taken lightly?
You shall not use or repeat the name of the Lord your God in vain [that is, lightly or frivolously, in false affirmations or profanely]; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain.
Exodus 20:7 [AMP]
No using the name of God, your God, in curses or silly banter; God won’t put up with the irreverent use of his name.
